1. What is required of the participating groups?

Each group will participate in one of the tracks to solve one of the proposed challenges or another challenge proposed by the group, provided that the challenge exists on the ground and a solution is found for this challenge.

2. What is the format required to submit the design proposal on the last day?

A design proposal in a PowerPoint presentation not exceeding 5 slides that includes the following points:

• The challenge and the extent of its negative impact on the environment, society, economy, or other.
• The design idea showing its effectiveness and application.
• An explanatory diagram of the design proposal.
• The positive impact of change on the individual and society.
• Details of materials, statistics.

3. What tools will we need?

The basic materials will be provided, including papers, pens, and drawings, and it is preferable to bring a laptop, sketchbook, and other needs.

4. Is participation individually or in groups?

Participation is for groups with a new idea to reach and obtain distinctive outputs during the hackathon period. Individual participants will be grouped in a specialized manner based on the initial paths and ideas.

5. Is it required that participants have an urban background?

It is not required for architects and designers only to participate. Individuals from different backgrounds can participate if this supports the idea and crystallizes it based on the idea of integrated work.

6. Will the hackathon be held at King Abdulaziz University, or will it be virtual?

Yes, CampusThon will be in the King Abdulaziz University campus Architecture & Planning faculty building in person.

7. What is the official language of the hackathon? Will it be Arabic or English?

As the country official language is Arabic, we decided to keep Arabic as the official language for the event. However, non-Arabic speakers can provide their projects in English.

8. Is it possible for a participating team to include students from King Khalid University as well as professionals from outside the university?

Yes, whatever helps you to succeed in submitting excellent work can participate.

9. Is it required for all team members to be present during the hackathon activities?

Yes, it is required to be present from 6-9 February.

10. Can teams be formed with students from more than one Saudi university?

Yes, and this is a great idea as collaboration and networking are among the objectives of the event.

11. Is the implementation of ideas restricted to King Abdulaziz University's campus, or can any university campus, including King Khalid University's campus, be selected?

Mainly yes, however it would be great if the idea is applicable in all other Saudi universities as this is one of the long-term goals of CampusThon.

12. Does the hackathon aim to develop an existing university campus or propose innovative ideas for a new campus?

Improving the quality of life in King Abdulaziz University campus and all other Saudi universities. Being innovative and smart would be a great direction to develop the campuses.

13. What are the criteria or key points that teams should focus on during the design phase to qualify for participation in the hackathon?

The rubric will be shared soon on the website.

14. Will the design work start on February 6, or is it allowed to begin earlier?

Teams can start work on their projects and getting data ready earlier; however, the actual work should be done in the specified timeframe.

15. Is the final submission expected to be presented as freehand drawings or created using architectural design software?

Clear presentable projects that will communicate the design and meet all the requirements, whether hand drawings or digital drawings.
